6, 10, 12 Or 20 Ladder? Buying The Right Ladder Size


 

Ladders are available in different sizes and are usually available in 6, 10, 12, 20, 40 feet. Buying the right size or length  of a ladder is as important as determining on other aspects of a ladder such as its construction material, purpose and manufacturer. Buying a ladder that is either too short or too long is often a mistake made by homemaker which could potentially be dangerous. As a general rule buy a ladder that has 7 to 11 feet more in length than the height of support point. For example if the height to gutter or to support point is 13 to 17 feet, you should buy a 24 foot ladder.

Now let's look at some of the ladders and their sizes offered by popular ladder brands.

Keller Ladders broad range of products that include step ladders, extension ladders, step stools, and multi ladders are available in various lengths. The Series 92 Step Ladder is available in 4’, 6’, and 8’ versions. These aluminum ladders feature a multi-functional top with holders for tools and paint cans. The top and bottom steps are braced for extra stability. Like most of the other models from Keller Ladders, this series also has external spreaders and slip-resistant steps. This Type II ladder has a maximum load bearing of 225 lbs.

Krause Ladders STABILO® is an aluminum step shelf ladder available in 6’, 7’, 8’, 9’, 10’, 11’, and 12 feet. These ladders have an integrated top guide rail for T-rail systems and solid braced 80 mm deep step/rail joints that provides the extra safety needed while ascending. There are two self-locking brake rollers for mobility while two-component foot caps ensures a firm footing.

Gorilla’s multi position ladders are available in aluminum and fiberglass. Aluminum ladders are available in 13’, 17’ and 21’ while the fiberglass versions are available in 13’ and 17’. A large platform at the top offers greater maneuverability while the rungs are skid-resistant. The ladder meets all ANSI standards and has a Type II rating with a duty workload of 225 lbs.

Davidson Ladders’s Big Boy Wooden Attic Ladder is manufactured in 7’ and 8’ version and feature adjustable spring tensions. Each step is reinforced with wire rods that provide extra strength. Little Giant Ladder Systems ® - Type 1AA Ladders have a minimum extension of 7’, 9’, and 11’. Model 13 has a minimum extension height of 7’, and is ideal for heavy-duty jobs since it has a duty rating of 375 lbs. The multipurpose ladder is adjustable and can be used on stairs, ramps, docks, and uneven surfaces. Manufactured from 6005-T5 aluminum, the ladder is sturdy and at the same time is lightweight and portable.
